---------
And here we are:
Holocaust deniers and other anti-Semites are making their presence felt in mainstream American politics. Whether they are running for high-profile offices themselves, or aligning themselves with candidates in races around the country, members of the extremist right and their racist, anti-Semitic views are experiencing more exposure today than at any time in recent history.
While extremists involvement in politics is not new, the countrys major political parties have historically kept fringe candidates and their ideologies at arms length.
------------
Even as Republicans feign a love of Israel, their loathing for Jews is beginning to ooze through the facade again. As the party become ever more centered around white nationalism, this will become unavoidable because antisemitism is the bread and butter of white identity politics the world over. If theres one thing a neo-Pagan skinhead from Eastern Europe and a JAY-zus loving Grand Dragon of the KKK from the Deep South can agree on, its that the Jews have got to go.

(650 posts)History tends to repeat itself or at least
rhyme. we can easily be fooled by cons
or identify the signs of tragedies before
it is too late.
Even Hitler had speech's where he
actually praised the majority of German
Jews as model citizens only to turn on
them when he came to power.
So when we allow a leader to trade
in hate against one group it is only
a mater of time before hate spread to others like a forest fire.
We should all stand united.

(13,340 posts)in the late 80's, I was conservative for my first two years. One thing that hastened my transition to Democrat was the fact that at least 5 people I met in the CR's were openly blaming financial problems on the "Jews." I was gobsmacked. I'd never encountered open antisemitism before.
It's been a part of the American right for a long time.
