Anyone reading "The President is Missing"?

I'm a little more than half way through. It's fucking terrifying, and could easily be a blueprint for what trump could allow Russia to do. If it's even 10% prophetic, "doomed" would be a vast understatement.

1. Do you think Bill Clinton is sending a message/warning?

Like, "Wake up world. This could easily happen." (Or IS happening)

Man, you've got me freaked out more than I already am.

3. Your guess is as good as mine as to a "message."

The thing that got me was how they've been promoting the book with an emphasis on "things only a president could know."

last night. Clinton especially is using this entertainment opportunity to bring awareness to a wider audience. He's not hitting that aspect with a big hammer but is saying he tried to be reliably informative within the context of an enjoyable thriller.

Messages just happens to remind me of something funny, a young woman our son once dated briefly. Very cute, but one day I found my mouth literally hanging open when she told me a she believed a resistance group was using the X-Files TV series to sneak messages past the government about what was really happening. These people are real. Not long after, she joined the parents she strongly resembles in a white survival flight to hole up in rural WV or KY. By now she'll unfortunately have reproduced, but at least not with our son.

reality for so long people should be past the terrified stage to national defense and preparedness expectation, apparently a major reason why Clinton and Patterson wrote it.

Don't know what this fictional disaster is, but almost a decade ago now, a report presented to congress estimated that for a nationwide grid down (worst case scenario) 90% of Americans would be dead by the end of a year. And the three nationwide Gridx tests for what would happen in event of attacks were all apparently very alarming.

Obama admin started work on it in a bunch of directions, even though crippled by a Repub congress, and Hillary's was to continue, big time. Half a billion solar panels on our roofs by 2020 was about sustainable energy, all right, but sustainable means national defense too.

Looking forward to reading it.

I do have to say, it's really a very misleading title for the content of the book thus far. A sub-plot, if you will, at least through the point I've read. Still potential to weave it back to the main story line, and that's what I'd do if I were writing it. It'd be one hell of a twist!

ongoing for years. Some very interesting stories have come out, like the one you're thinking of.

Mini attacks, intrusions, attempts to implant cyber bombs that can go off in any of various ways when instructed, etc. The militaries of aggressively hostile nations have developed new branches that employ new weapons and strategies. They are testing and maneuvering those weapons on completely new battlefields, including our personal computers.

On the bright side, no nuclear winter.

have a book club which I love! By the way did you see book club...it was hilarious. I saw it with my two daughters and my daughter's girlfriend. They all liked it. This is my first time meeting the Lion club members as hubs went on ahead to avoid the commute from our current house in Cortland Ohio and I have remained here except for conjugal visit (dirty laugh)... we sold our house the first day on the market! Now, we are simply waiting for closing...signed all the documents.

Congratulations.

No to the movie, but it's definitely on my list with that cast. I like movies about people my age every bit as much as milennials do.
