Why is the DOJ briefing the "Gang of Eight"?

Last edited Sat Jun 9, 2018, 09:06 AM - Edit history (1)

For the second time in a matter of three weeks, the leadership in Congress will be briefed by the Department of Justice on the Mueller investigation.

What should we ascertain, if anything, from these new "briefings"?

Perhaps Rosenstein is prepared to turn over the evidence to the Congress to do with what they may? I would think it would be Rosenstein's decision, not Mueller's?

It would be difficult to imagine that the Republicans would do anything about it until after the election, even if the guilt is writ large all over the place.

But, in my opinion, it is significant that the DOJ is giving all this information to the leaders of Congress.

Also, I would suspect that Donald Trump knows every bit of information that the Congress is receiving? Their first effort, if the evidence is very strong that a crime or crimes have been committed, would be to try and get Trump to resign, rather than go thru an impeachment process.

We may be farther along in this investigation than we realize?

Since when do legislators get to have access to criminal proceedings that may even extend to them as recipients of Russian/NRA money? We pay for the investigation. This isn't some game. Nunes will run w the evidence to dt. Real bad idea. It's a seperate branch of govt.

They may want Trump to know that they have the goods on him?

If that would get him to resign, it could save a lot of political headaches....

Something tells me dt hasn't had this many positive strokes in his entire life...and this thing is it's "f'ing golden" (Blagovich) and he's not letting it go for anything short of hand cuffs. It's all been 16 months of speculation and it's mentally exhausting.

The entire nation is becoming "mentally exhausted". That is why we need to prepare ourselves for the long run. It probably will not end as soon as we would like nor in the manner we would like. Put on your marathon shoes and be ready to pace yourself for a long battle.
