"Shock and Awe" (Rob Reiner's New Movie)

Wow... the trailer for Rob Reiner's new movie "Shock and Awe" brings back a lot of bad memories from recent Iraq War history. DU supported many of us though this awful time.

Most of us marched/called/wrote/talked/yelled/cried. The mainstream media didn't help, even NPR failed (in my opinion). Many friends, co-workers, neighbors and family just blindly trusted our government to act responsibly. Iraq is still paying the price.

Here's the trailer... I hope a lot of people watch this movie for the precautionary tale.

We haven't been in years because my husband always falls asleep, and it's kind of an expensive place to take a nap. I'm pretty sure if I tell him that Woody Harrelson is in it, he'll be up for it.

That reminds me that I have to take my old satellite dish to the recycler. It irks me the way they leave the disposal of that dish up to the consumer.

DU was a great source of information when they started to beat the drums for war. We knew all about PNAC and the LIES.

... but few were calling it out. Most of our representatives seemed blind as well.
DU really was one of the few places information could be found that made sense of things.

And now we're faced with a fresh crop of lying thieves....

However, anytime I point that out I get flamed on this forum, I get my posts hidden, and I get told the democrats are a “big tent” party.

Sorry, I don’t want to be in a tent with a bunch of warmongers.

How can we be the opposition party when dems fold like this?

Victor, you have my support.

of recent past, including our reps.

And get that as we try to push forward, we just can't afford to splinter Democrats, so I understand (but don't love) the restrictions here.

sadly I don’t believe in hell and eternal damnation, but anyone who ever voted for or supported that war deserves nothing less. Not even thinking about what that war did to millions of innocent Iraqis, it has destroyed countless American lives as well. While many “wonderful” politicians with a “D” next to their name get to sleep well at night, people like me get to relive the murder they perpetuated on their behalf. People like me were young and naive and joined the army with the intention of making the world a better place. People like me were betrayed by our own party for no reason other than the shortsighted career goals of the politicians.

Before anyone on this forum starts to jump on me and hate me for my unwillingness to overlook the involvement of our very own politicians, they need to go stuff a body bag with the remains of a person you murdered or the remains of a person you served with in combat. Live with those sights and memories and tell me how you feel about some of our very own “democrats”.

I'm really sorry for your pain, and the horrors of ugly war that you (and so many others) have experienced.

But to change anything, we're going to need to unite behind the best we have, and push them to be even better.
It feels like a painfully slow and compromised process sometimes... but we don't have a better alternative.

Rob Reiner is trying to shine some light on this cruel chapter with this movie, let's see if we can learn something.

The media's failure to hold trump even remotely accountable for the way he's destroying this country is unforgivable.
