It's 11' 8" and not a microinch over. The side is a collection of videos showing trailer tops being ripped off like a can of Spam, or RV's getting their AC units knocked off.

It is in Durham, NC where the main line of the N.C. Railroad crosses a main surface road. There are a couple of nearby bridges with the exact same height, but they seem somehow to have far fewer accidents. I go by these bridges fairly often.

Authorities have tried all sorts of modification, but the problems persist. To reengineer the bridge would be far too much trouble for the modest benefits. After all, this is the primary freight and passenger line across North Carolina. There are a couple of instances where the accident occurred while a freight train was passing, but none with a passenger train. AFAIK
