She talked over the 911 caller
Let her speak and hang herself
There is nothing to fear by letting her speak
She is not going to successfully rationalize her action
She is only going to sound stupid

11. I guess we've reached the point where we must agree with people in order to think they write well

Otherwise, we just put our hands over our ears, shake our heads vigorously and chant "I'm not listening to you, I'm not listening to you!!!"

but I understand that for some (including myself), the chaff cannot always be easily separated from the wheat.

14. His political writings often center around why people of color should not vote for Democrats

He literally and explicitly advocates for supporting third party candidates and voting against Democrats (he also uses the "Democrat Party" label rather than "Democratic Party" ).

Generally, people with those views are not welcome here - not matter how fine their writing may be.

"Senator Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening"

you can excuse some black people for being suspicious of her.

I know, I know, blacks are supposed to save whites from voting in Orange Julius.

This woman is obviously emotionally disturbed. The officer did the right thing.

Empty beer cans are a big clue, as is the getting cut off the margarita train.

It’s not public intoxication if she was a resident of the apartment complex (mileage may vary based on jurisdiction), but if a black person had called 911 because white people refused to cheer her up? I can’t see things going that smoothly. At least the police stayed calm.

16. Michael Harriot's spin on this is total BS

Here's what happened:

1. A middle aged woman, who appears to be mentally ill, tries to engage some teenagers in conversation. She tells them she is depressed and wants someone to talk to.

2. The teenagers laugh at this woman and proceed to mock her, shouting insults about her age, appearance, and mental state.

3. The woman calls the police and the officer calmly diffuses the situation

There is literally no racial component to anything that occurs. No racial slurs are uttered by anyone. No non-white person is treated disrespectfully by the police officer in any respect. No one is arrested. No one is touched. No one is forced to leave.

Elevating this sad, pathetic, and possibly mentally ill woman's behavior here to this standard cheapens and demeans the seriousness of the true incidents of actual behavior that goes on all the time.

This is not that.
