IHOP goes IHOB in social media blitz to draw the post-breakfast burger crowd

When IHOP said it would be tweaking its name to IHOB, the news immediately went viral. Some thought the new letter stood for bitcoin, others thought breakfast or brunch.

But IHOP, made famous for its Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity pancakes is now the international house of … burgers, at least for a while.

The marketing gimmick was launched last week — and the meaning of new acronym revealed Monday — to highlight a push by the breakfast chain to capture more of the hamburger crowd, which it already serves with a full menu.

And at least in terms of cutting through the social media clatter it has been a smash success. The tweet announcing the name change had more over 5 billion impressions last week, and “IHOb” was one of the top trending topics on Twitter on Monday morning.

1. burgers????? someone goes to and ihop for burgers?

been to an ihop well over a 100 times.....had a dear dear friend who loved the place and they had coupons.....
every sunday we would alternate dennys, ihop maybe a bakers square......we never ordered a burger.
not sure i even saw a burger ever ordered outside of the picky eater kids who only eat plain cheeseburgers when they go out to eat.

It serves breakfast 24/7, to accommodate people who's bodies have no idea of what time of day it fucking is. They soak up alcohol, that's all.

4. They do dinner too

I used to go to the IHOP in Long Beach, CA, back in the 1980's for dinner.
They had traditional 'dinner' menu items.
Food was great and prices reasonable
