I'd like Democrats to blanket the airwaves with the following message:

The Republican Party's mix of ignorance, bigotry, greed and power poses a threat unlike anything we've witnessed in recent memory. I'm calling on every voting-age American to vote for Democrats in November as though your health care, your Social Security, your education and your life depends on it. Together, we can save this nation and restore our reputation in the world. Every vote matters.

You got to present it in context. For example:

bigotry - pictures of neo-Nazis with big guns in Charlottesville
greed - tax cut with pie chart showing 82% going to top 1%
ignorance - attacks on education (add specifics)
health care - attempting to remove restrictions on insurance companies cutting patients w/ preexisting conditions, undermining health care law by allowing people to not pay anything for insurance (i.e. individual mandate) until they get sick.

But it's tougher to implement visuals when you're being interviewed on TV.

Changing things. Things that used to protect you, your family, the air you breathe and the water you drink and swim in.

"THEY don't want you to vote. Are you registered? Here's how to find out. And if you are not registered, or if you've found you're no longer registered, here's how to register. Need help? A ride, help in getting ID? Call 555-5555. Remember - They don't think you SHOULD vote! So make sure you can - and then VOTE!"

I am fortunate to live in a state with vote-by-mail. Voter pamphlets come out well prior to the elections, ballots are distributed by mail well in advance of the elections, and voters can then drop their completed ballots in a local collection location (safe and secure), mail them for the price of a stamp, or deliver them directly to a county office. Prior to voting, I always verify my registration by signing on to the Secretary of State's website and checking the records. I don't have much patience for those who can't avail themselves of this easy and convenient way of voting, figuring if they "opt themselves out" they have no right to complain about what's going on in local and/or federal governments. I totally agree with the OP's issues listed that hang in the balance if informed, responsible citizens do not exercise their right to vote.

Just as a rising tide lifts all boats, a sinking ship of state will destroy us all. Let's work hard to be sure that doesn't happen.

Peace.

13. What airwaves?
Tue Jun 12, 2018, 08:23 PM
Jun 2018

One of the 2,000 radio stations that broadcast nothing but racist asshatted Reich wing bullshit 24/7?

The Corporate Koch and Sinclair controlled MSM?

That's the frickin problem.

We either need to build our own airwaves from scratch, or we burn theirs down.

I'm leaning towards burning theirs the eff down!

Dems can't get a narrative going because we're doing the equivalent of pissing in the ocean.

It's amazing we win ANY elected office.

Until we destroy or seriously cripple the wingnuts message delivery system... this country is fucked.

It's so fucking obvious, I don't understand why or how we ignore it
