President Trump said Tuesday he floated the prospect of beachfront hotels and other real estate developments in North Korea during his meeting with the country's leader, Kim Jong Un.
Speaking to reporters after the historic summit, Trump said he told Kim that instead of testing ballistic missiles, the cash-strapped country "could have the best hotels in the world."

(15,805 posts)operational electric grid and all the other infrastructure facilities found in any other modern city. Trump offhand remark is just another indication that he didn't bother reading any briefing materials or listening to his staff before the meeting. He's a grifter, so his first thought was to try to score some bonus bucks for himself, and to hell with what the US or So Korea needs.

How could it possibly not work?
(I'd love to have seen the translator at that moment. How do you put a proposal to overthrow the system to the murderous dictator whose family has based 70 years of power on opposing? Say "umm, you understand some English - did you get all that without me?)

In reality its a fascist dictatorship that puts nets up around high rise Apple factories to catch the despairing workers as they try to jump to their deaths.
