(2,396 posts)Hubby wants to change jobs (trucker for food distributors) but drumpf is just making our world too unstable right now to make any big changes.
Also, there is the theory floating around that Steve Schmidt's hand in foisting Palin upon the national stage helped bring us trump. So thanks a heap, Steve.

(2,396 posts)... can't remember her last name were Palin's handlers on the campaign trail even though they knew she was very unqualified for the office of vice president and perhaps even the president in the worst case scenario. They kept pushing her forward her as qualified.
Her presence on the national stage opened the door to a fake folksy populism and also legitimized the condemnation of the "others" (Muslims, Elites, and rascism towards Obama).
So that sea change in decorum brought us trump in the long run, facilitated by Steve Schmidt.
It's an analysis that I agree with.

both her and Schmidt knew and went along with it
that's what happens when you go along with something like that (like not impeaching the idiot Bush) when Dems had both houses, its that looking forward thing

(37,748 posts)Wallace was brought in as Palin's handler *after* Palin was already chosen, but expressed deeps doubts and strong concerns from day one about Palin's knowledge of relevant historical and political material.
After Wallace's doubts were ignored by Rick Davis, she and Schmidt were tasked to get Palin semi-prepared for media appearances and the VP debate. As per Schmidt's accounts, this is when both he and Wallace began suggesting an unprecedented move to McCain-- changing VP picks in mid-campaign.
Yes... Schmidt was instrumental in her appointment. He and Wallace were also instrumental in *attempting* to get McCain to make another choice at about the same time the rest of suburban America began expressing doubts as well in regards to Palin.

(53,791 posts)mid-campaign reversal on Palin, then the 8 Obama years that came between trump's ascendance.
There's plenty of blame to go around for trump's imposter presidency.
Funny you neglected to mention Putin and his bots, Cambridge Analytica, vote suppression/hacking by repugs and complicit media.

(90,714 posts)She hated Palin so much that she would not vote for McCain -- she describes the Palin experience as having given her PTSD. She is a Never-Trumper. Same with her friend Steve Schmidt.

(61,695 posts)was epic. Wallace couldn't stand her and begged SS to reassign her to any other job. Later in the movie she told SS that she didn't vote because she couldn't support McCain with Palin as VP.

(60,010 posts)Woody Harrellson played him in the movie. I really thought that his support of Palin would be enough to end any involvement in politics.
Guess I am still naive.

(11,885 posts)G7 needs to oust trump and get both Brazil , and India to join them now. They know trump will do nothing for them no matter what he says, he won't, so they should announce they're ousted him , and have others that do want to work together , instead of someone always trying to shake them down for money.

(32,086 posts)I find it bizarre that so much stock is being taken by people here in what this guy says. He's the one who talked McCain into picking Princess Dumbass of the Northwoods as his running mate if I am not mistaken.
