And it doesn't appear that anyone is going to hold him accountable any time soon?
We can only imagine what Republicans and the media would be talking about if Barack Obama had done the same deal as Donald Trump? The Republicans would be all over the media, calling for impeachment, there is little doubt. Even a few Democrats would probably be persuaded to go along.
If Hillary had been awarded the presidency she won in the last election, we can only imagine what Republicans would be talking about if her daughter, Chelsea, had volunteered to work in the White House for no salary but reported $82 million dollars on her financial disclosure form.
There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that they would have been attacked unmercifully by the Republicans and assisted at every turn by the mainstream media. There would have been calls for immediate impeachment.
There should be no doubt but that the media would side with the Republicans. It puts a lie to the charges of the right-wingers that the media is "liberal". That myth does not match up with reality.
If nobody in the House or Senate can hold Trump accountable after the last disastrous two days, then it's probably not going to happen? If he is permitted to stick his finger in the eyes of our allies and then slobber all over our adversaries, what else could they permit?
They do not act, mostly because they want to win their next election. They do not want to piss off their base. It is for that very reason that they do not deserve to win in their next election. They have proved themselves unworthy of public office.

Read a post on here the other day about some Trump cult preacher advocating the death penalty for gay people.
We are one little event away from that folks. But it couldnt happen here right?

(2,541 posts)Complicity and hypocrisy of republicans is beyond anything that can be forgiven or forgotten. They are accomplices now and should be viewed that way. They have violated their oath to defend and protect the United States. They have clearly put party before country and its people. People would be right to question the legitimacy of the the Republican Party and if it should be allowed to remain a recognized political party that can be trusted to conduct itself with the best interests of the country and its citizens.
