Whether or not he actually told Kim he’d lift the sanctions is completely irrelevant.

Kim’s as big a liar as he is, so who knows what the truth is.

Problem now is if he calls Kim a liar then that pretty much sends US-NK relations back to an antagonistic square one except that Kim was able to rassle a photo op with a US President (well, technically a US President) before humiliating him by reneging on him.

If Trump doesn’t call Kim a liar, he’s basically locked in to lift the sanctions, and NK still wins.

It’s a lose-lose for Trump. Guy got played badly.
