Some great analysis today - Press finally figures out they are abetting -45's propaganda campaign.

Why are they always months behind us here?

On MTP today, they started by listing 5-6 lies Trump told on Friday...

Republican Strategist - Larry Sabato, UVA Center for Politics director made a great point. Since Trump lies so much you can only draw two conclusions..1) there is something wrong with him mentally/emotionally or 2) it is an orchestrated effort to brainwash/deceive. There is no good conclusion.

Then, discussed on Reliable Sources - how the press should not just report a tweet like "The press is handing out fake news" and possibly restate to headline "Why did Trump lie again about the press?"

And..George Lakoff's interview and how Trump uses words to con the public:
http://money.cnn.com/2018/06/15/media/reliable-sources-podcast-george-lakoff/index.html

LAKOFF: He knows how to use language very effectively. And not only that, he has strategic tweets. His tweets fall into four categories. One, they can preemptively frame something, frame something before it's framed out there in the public. Secondly, it can divert attention away from something that's threatening to him. It can shift the blame, either to some other person or to the news media itself. And it can be a trial balloon, something really outrageous to see what the reaction is, and if there's no real reaction, he can do what he wants.

And he also knows how to use psychology. For example, there is a phenomenon in which some well-publicized event that is out there, like some particular terrorist attack or something like that, becomes a weaponized way of just categorizing all people. He knows how to do this. This is part of his sales technique.

And that allows him to control the media, provided that the media repeats what he says. One of the things that journalists are trained to do is to repeat and quote what public figures say. But when the public figures are distorting, lying, and trying to reframe things in an utterly false way, what the journalists are doing is helping them. They're helping to get 'em out there. And not only that -- if they deny it, if they go out and quote his words and then say, "This isn't true," what they've done is quoting his words. It's like when Nixon said, "I am not a crook," and everyone thought of him as a crook. The point is that denying a frame activates the frame.

STELTER: So when the president said on Wednesday that CNN and NBC, among other networks, are the greatest enemy, the "biggest enemy" of America, my denial on television, when I said, "This is disgusting," I was part of the problem?

LAKOFF: That's right. You're part of the problem. Right now, people in the media are doing great work, probably the best work I've ever seen in uncovering truths. But what's happened is they allow Trump to manipulate them. So... start with the truth that he's trying to hide. You make clear to that, and then you point out that the president is trying to hide this by lying. You might in... a few words or in a few seconds say a little bit about what the lie is. And go back to the truth.

STELTER: It's a truth sandwich.

LAKOFF: You've got it. A truth sandwich. Perfect way to image it.

DNA to report exactly what a President says (ya, a normal one). I am absolutely positive in my gut that repeated Crooked Hillary a million times sunk in consciously to the wingnuts and subconsciously to many others.

Wow - wonder what would have happened if someone in the media figured this out a long time ago and just kept harping on it and the propaganda campaign

Right wing propaganda is the biggest problem with America today.

him, his name, or whatever he said that day, I think tRump would totally lose it. It's certainly worth a try, don't you think?

foray.

Often thought that for sure the WH press corps should just not show up. But, they mentioned that in discussion today. Too many competing businesses and each one wants to be able to create news. Sad

Extremely bubble gum interview, he "interviewed" an ICE official and it was Chuck Todd doing what he does best.... Not pushing back and allowing the guest to run the conversation. Followed by a panel that focused on how Obama did this too so what's the big deal?

It was a textbook example of softball access journalism. If anything, it made Chuckie look like a complete lightweight, as every other anchor seemed to grasp the gravity of what is happening and seemed actually outraged. I guess the 5PM timeslot is the lame hour, as it's also when BREAKING NEWS Blitzer has his show as well.

course is perfectly fine for many people - but not for a news chief.

You made me think though - slightly off topic. No outrage. Adam Schiff, today, said that the separation and detention of children was a moral outrage. But, his tone was like he said he wanted a peanut butter sandwich.

I am not trying to throw shade on him and single him out. Just wish we had some people who were the passionate bleeding heart liberal types. Who could make us cry - they evoked so much emotion in our hearts and souls. (thinking Ted and Mario Cuomo off the top of my head)

Trump was inaugurated. She made a conscious decision not to show clips of him talking or repeat his tweets. It's why she has the best, most informative show on MSNBC. She just focuses on what Trump and his admin do, not what they say, and reports on that.

with my wingnut Mother and Father Inlaw - and all they could gush about was how wonderful Trump had done in NK and how he deserves the Nobel. And that Obama didn't deserve it because he did nothing.

on the TV. It's supposed to be used by parents to control what kids see, but no reason it can't be used to control what brain-washed parents see or don't. Just sayin'...
