Framingham residents protest immigration policy (MA)

... Anne Krauss said her mother fled to the U.S. to escape Nazi persecution during World War II. When she was eight years old, Krauss’s mother was separated from her parents for five years, not reuniting until after the war. Krauss said the separation traumatized her mother, who still has nightmares.

“My mother is depressed from all this,” said Krauss of the current political climate. “It’s bringing back memories for her.”

Krauss was among a group of about 20 people who gathered Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Water Street and Edgell Road, joining a national outcry against the child separation policy. Holding signs that read “Keep families together” and “Not the U.S.A. I know,” mothers, children of immigrants, and others said that they hoped to give a voice to those who have none ...
