You can't undo the harm that's already been done.

The media can't normalize or give any passes because what this whole mess has done is show more of his rotten core, his utter lack of human values - and also the utter lack of courage or love of country of republicans and trump's sycophant followers.

It has to be added to the infinite docket of faults and flaws that will hopefully turn on trump and his quickly so that this country can heal. The 2018 election has to be the beginning. The possibility of him in 2020 has to be obliterated.

1. Too many of them have stated publicly that

(a) separating children from parents is a good thing because it deters immigration, and/or
(b) it might be a bad thing, but nothing can be done because it's the law (it isn't), and/or
(c) the Democrats can fix "their" bad law (that never existed) by agreeing to legislation funding the wall.

They can't pretend that none of this ever happened or that they didn't approve of it. They own it.
