Trent Reznor rips Trump: 'You're seeing the fall of the empire of America in real time'

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor blasted President Trump in an interview published Thursday, saying Americans are seeing the “fall of the empire” under his leadership.

“It feels like things are coming unhinged, socially and culturally,” Reznor told The Guardian. “The rise of Trumpism, of tribalism, the celebration of stupidity. I’m ashamed, on a world stage, at what we must look like as a culture.”

The 53-year-old father of four said he is especially troubled about what Trump's America will be like for his children.

“It’s seeing life through the eyes of having four small kids — what are they coming into?” Reznor asked. “And who am I in this world where it feels like every day the furniture got moved a bit while I slept?”

Trump’s presidency combined with the digital age of social media has made people “dumber,” Reznor said.

“For the miracle of everyone sharing ideas, I see a hell of a lot more racism,” Reznor said.

“It doesn’t feel like we’ve advanced. I think you’re seeing the fall of the empire of America in real time, before your eyes; the internet has eroded the fabric of decency in our civilization,” he added.

Love when he gets political. Between the last two NIN eps. A Perfect Circle's latest lp Eat the Elephant. There has been a lot of great socially conscious music.

wow, what an analogy... my mother was abusive (emotional) and during my growing up years everyday I came home from school the furniture would be moved around... just imagine what that does to a young child

always my excuse for my erratic behavior

as a nation decline and they are smart and kind. I bet his kids are also, and when you see this disgusting descent they are growing up in it's gut wrenching

It’s not the first time Reznor has criticized the commander-in-chief.

Reznor called Trump a “complete f---ing moron” last year in a Rolling Stone interview and shredded the president’s view on climate change.

“That's what gets me the most — that he's this vulgar, grotesque dope, everything I hate in people,” Reznor said last July
