Josh Marshall nails it!

"I was mainly offline for a few days. So when I plugged back in last night I realized that we are in the throes of another debate about the decline of “civility” in public life. This is a mealy mouthed word that has no clear meaning beyond social delicacy and the importance of not speaking up too aggressively."

"One might further note that it is simply too comical to be lectured about social decorum by a party whose members shouted “You lie” at a President during a State of the Union address and made Donald Trump their party leader. But even that is really beside the point. What does matter is where we draw the lines of what’s legitimate and what’s not. Most of the civility talk isn’t about any real red line, any boundary that is critical to the kind of free society we want to preserve and build. It’s more a wet blanket meant to tsk tsk legitimate protest and legitimate resistance to corrupt government, misrule and injustice."

that he has said over the last 1.5 to 2 years to realize that the Republicans have no right to lecture anyone on social decorum.

Ms. HuckaSlanders, if you work lying about your boss's order to take children from their parents and put them in cages, not to mention without means for parents and children to find one another, you're gonna have to expect some feedback from people with hearts. We have no other way of reaching you in your gilded cocoon. Even journalists cannot get through. It's not about civility or decorum, it's basic human kindness.

Bush Jr used it. Take one of your weaknesses, and accuse the other side of it first. So when they accuse you of it, it sounds like they're just being defensive or falsely accusing you of it to save their own skins.

Trump used it throughout the campaign. That's what "the election is rigged!" was about. And "lock her up!"

actually SHS not getting her fried chicken is worse since the concern for civilty didn't come up when it came to the brown kids.
