within a year, abortion would be illegal in at least half the states. We may not have much time to organize.

I expect there will be abortion clinics opening up in towns just across the border if Roe v Wade is repealed.

will still be legal in the United States, but not in all the states when Roe is overturned.

Of course that's not the point.

The point is that privacy rights will be eroded and government authority increased.

Of course the rich will have no problems hopping on a jet to go get a safe legal abortion any time they want.

I guess we were being to polite to the GOP fascists when they stole Obama's pick for SCOTUS huh?

We've already seen the beginnings of this - pharmacies allowed not to fill birth control prescriptions because of conscience, draconic regulations for clinics that perform abortions, yesterday's ruling on letting pregnancy counseling centers not mention termination as an alternative. I think the next step will be a state deciding to ban birth control for minors and have that upheld on the grounds of states' rights, then a state will ban abortion with maybe a few end-case exceptions and that will be upheld.

Some of the more liberal states will continue to allow abortion on demand, but I can see a large swath of the country where it will not be available. And maybe even birth control will be harder to get there.

I've told GOPers I know for years the people they vote for don't really want Roe to go away, they need it to ensure their loony base turns out every November. Yeah, they have gays, immigrants and others to hate, but nothing really got the fundies going quite like abortion did. Like catnip.
