Let's hope the senate does their job this time on confirmation.

I've seen the routine over and over when a Supreme Court nominee comes before the committee. The Republicans pick an apparent religious nut job and the questioning almost exclusively focuses on abortion. They ask how he (of course it'll be a man) feels about Roe/Wade, how he sees a woman's right to choose, and about reproductive freedom, as if asking the question in a different way might catch the nominee up.

Meanwhile, the approved judge turns out to be a phony religious zealot who plays the part of a corporate shill. Abortion is a vital issue, sure, but the obvious goal of the Supreme in my lifetime has been to make big companies into huge companies, and huge companies into mega-corporations that rule against the working class thanks to a rubber stamp on mergers.

Let's ask this one how he feels about too big to fail, and if he agrees that it's a fact, ask if maybe he can put a halt to the seemingly endless mergers that are creating monopolies rivaling the age of the robber barons. Ask if corporations might have too much power to legislate through lobbying and campaign influence.

As I said, abortion rights are important, but Chief Justice Roberts himself said he doesn't expect the court to ever decide to overturn Roe/Wade, but democrats take the bait every time. It's time to find a justice who doesn't think he's the personal attorney for the Koch brothers.

I wouldn't be so sure it will be a male. Something like 40% of women are anti-choice. MadDAsHell Jun 2018 #1

It probably wouldn’t be that hard for the Orange Turd to find a female nominee willing to strike down abortion rights.

You're correct that Trump can easily find a conservative judge who is against abortion rights, but I thin he'll look more for a male corporate lapdog. I don't think he has much respect for woman entrepreneurs, family members excepted.

Having said that, I don't think the initial list will be compiled by Trump himself. While Trump may hold final decision, the roster of acceptable right wing kooks will be handed up by the likes of Mitch McConnell based on who he thinks he can slip through. Trump will lean toward the nutjob who reminds him of Donald Trump, the greatest businessman who ever lived.

Look at the choices he made of personal attorneys.

The backlash against conservative politicians would be greater than anything we've ever seen in American politics. And they know that.
