Biden leads 2020 Dem field in new poll

Almost one-third of registered Democratic voters back former Vice President Joe Biden for the party's 2020 presidential nomination, making him the front-runner in a new poll provided exclusively to The Hill.

Biden is the clear leader in Harvard CAPS/Harris's June poll with support from 32 percent of Democrats polled. Hillary Clinton, the party's 2016 nominee, finished second with 18 percent of the vote, while her 2016 primary opponent, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), sits in third with 16 percent.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) was the only other candidate to poll in double digits, with 10 percent of those surveyed backing her.

Biden has spoken frankly about both his interest in running for president and his hesitancy to jump in the race.

He flirted with a bid in 2016 but ultimately decided not to run while he mourned the death of his son, Beau. This week, he joked to The Washington Post that he isn't "looking to live in the White House," but added, "I don't know what I'm going to do."

1) I suspect Biden really is leading
2) Harvard is a crap poll
3) I love Hillary and was one of her most stalwart supporters on this board but 2020 can't be a rerun , for a host of reasons. It just can't be.
4) A Biden candidacy is not without problems but he seems to be strong enough in areas where we are weak and need to win.

some video someone put together of Biden acting too touchy feely with women. Not saying this is a show-stopper - and of course - how could it compare to trump sleeze - but could be a piece of baggage we don't need.

What announced candidate is it you are in for as we wait for perfection?

Strange comment considering there is no field.

I forget what sparked that, maybe some news about Kennedy. But that would be a great way to go. Biden with a young solid Democrat.

I think people are going to be looking for a trusted face and stability. That's probably why Hillary is at No. 2. She basically won and people are wanting the smart people back instead of the constant divisive accusations. All that was literally too costly in every way.

These polls truly don't have one thing to do with any votes. At this point it is more a game of name recognition.
