(269,062 posts)Sure sometimes he annoys me but he's a genuine progressive who walked the walk. Sure he's aging and not always consistent but I have time for men and women who have paid their dues.

(10,168 posts)He's said and done some stupid stuff when he tries to be "reasonable," and statesman like, but overall he's a lifetime liberal and I respect him.

(14,167 posts)We need another (EXTREMELY LOUD) voice on our side.
When he's coherent and has taken his meds, he's actually pretty damn good.

(15,805 posts)I like seeing him -- or anyone -- who speaks that passionately about Democrats. His naysayers can harp about his purity rating and bemoan his righteous critiques, but when he's on a roll like he is now, Matthews is a forceful speaker for our side. We would be lucky to have more like him.

(5,275 posts)This accidental occupant of the WH, who got 3 million fewer votes than his opponent, and is under serious investigation....he gets to pack the Supreme Court for maybe 30+ years? After McConnell stole a seat from a 2 term legitimate competent president?
Time to fight like Hell with the gloves off!

(26,501 posts)ass kissing wasn't that helpful either. And no I don't need him to kiss Democratic ass either but he's been mighty dishonest throughout the years.

(37,364 posts)that he is very much an institutionalist and respects the offices even when some occupants don't personally deserve respect. It takes a great deal to push him over the edge. I've done my share of screaming at him over the years. If he's adding his voice, then he is welcome. We need all allies possible in these dangerous times. Now is not the time for purity tests. Those got us the Teabaggers and Freedom Caucus on the right and contributed to the portion of 2016 that Putin and gerrymandering didn't cover. We can't afford to descend any lower than we are now. All hands on deck.
