Remember, GOP senators vowed to block ANY Hillary Clinton SCOTUS nominees for her ENTIRE TERM

McCain promises united front against any Clinton Supreme Court nominee

Sen. John McCain said he will unite with his Republican colleagues to block any potential Supreme Court nominee Hillary Clinton may offer if elected.

"I promise you that we will, we will be united against any Supreme Court nominee that Hillary Clinton — if she were president — would put up," the Arizona Republican told a Philadelphia radio station on Monday. "This is why we need the majority."

Should he head back to the Senate, Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) pledged, he would try to block any Supreme Court nomination from a President Clinton.

“If Hillary Clinton becomes president, I am going to do everything I can do to make sure four years from now, we still got an opening on the Supreme Court,” he said.

The Republicans have been hyperpartisan since Newt Gringrich and devolved with each new session of Congress.

They have decided long ago not to share power, not to work with Democrats. Worse, they have decided to destroy Democrats even at the expense of destroying democracy (as though it were a democratic plot against "freedom&quot .

We were distracted at first. Bill Clinton with his sexual peccadilloes. Hillary as FLOTUS, warning of a "vast right-wing conspiracy. The 2000 Election stolen. Obama as a biracial/African American president. HRC as the first female nominee for president.

IOW, it doesn't matter WHO is running as a Democrat. The Republicans (conservatives, Tea Party, RWNJs, moderates) have an obvious platform: destroy Democrats. Our next nominee could be a white male, handsome, articulate, witty, knows the Constitution, etc. -- and it won't matter. He's a Democrat.

Re the original post: It isn't HRC. ANY DEMOCRAT in the WH will be denied a SC nomination hearing and vote if the Senate is 51 votes republican.

Accepting this, we have to go forward. I wish I knew how to return to bipartisanship, but I just don't believe republican leadership will allow it.

During the Obama years I was shocked at all the post thinking it was because Repubs are racists, then in 2016 it was a combination of misogyny and racism. Now repubs are both, but they hate something even more, liberals.

It is why Repubs can do a 180 and support tRump who displays all the worst traits they claimed to hate, it is why they suddenly are O.K. with Russia and North Korea, with tariffs, etc.

It is because they hate, when they see a black or hispanic, they assume liberal, a confident, independent woman, a liberal. I can see the shock when I tell them I am a liberal.

There is no way to return to bipartisanship, gerrymandered districts and Fox News makes that unrealistic.
