Yesterday was my dad's 75th birthday. I didn't call him.

Why?

Well, maybe some of you know/remember my stories of my abusive upbringing under the cult of Gothardism.

I've largely recovered from that, but now my dad is on a campaign of bullying his 95 year old mother.

So, I called her instead.

I called her to offer her my love and support. She doesn't deserve to be bullied by her own son.

Sometimes family can be toxic, and we need to limit our exposure to them.
