Trump says US Steel is opening 6 new plants. Thats news to US Steel!
Trump invented a phone call about make-believe manufacturing jobs.

Proving his commitment to pathological lies, Trump completely fabricated a phone call from the CEO for U.S. Steel, who he claimed told him the company was undergoing massive expansion. On June 26, Trump tweeted, U.S. Steel just announced theyre expanding or building six new facilities.
This followed his announcement on June 20: The head of U.S. Steel called me the other day, and he said, Were opening up six major facilities and expanding facilities that have never been expanded. They havent been opened in many, many years,
But, as the Washington Post Fact-Checker reports, U.S. Steel wont say any phone call took place. Their spokesperson told the Post, To answer your question, we post all of our major operational announcements to our website and report them on earnings calls. Our most recent one pertained to our Granite City A blast furnace restart. So, no, theres no major expansion in the works.
Trump has repeatedly used claims like this as evidence that hes responsible for reigniting some kind of wave of manufacturing jobs in America. Now, Trumps rate of lying has exploded, as he feels increasingly comfortable not only concocting fables of phone conversations, but also inventing new steel plant openings. Trump made an astonishing 103 false claims over those seven days, an average of 15 per day, Daniel Dale of the Toronto Star reported this week. That shatters his one-week record of 60, which he had set in early March.

(68,539 posts)tariff is driving these companies out of business and/or layoffs. My daughter works in a company that depends on China imports. There is a hugs ship of the stuff that now one will claim...the exporter forgot the clause that you own it on the ship so now the company says...we can't afford that. They have raised their prices which is already causing layoff from their buyers.

None of them will catch on that none of them are working, in any state, in any industry d Rump 'saved'. "

(5,611 posts)Trump is clearly demonstrating that he considers the people that vote for him so stupid that they will believe the most ridiculous lies that can be easily revealed as lies. Dont they see that they are not getting brand new manufacturing jobs and that steel companies, coal companies, etc arent opening? WHY DONT THEY CALL HIM ON THIS SHIT?! I will never understand.
He is blatantly lying about this also, is it okay for the fing president to be making up such stories about the future dealings of companies?!
