(26,735 posts)Either way... there's no argument that Canadian oil imports are harming US jobs in that industry (which are already expanding more rapidly than their infrastructure can support). So such tariffs wouldn't make sense even to a trump supporter.

According to the American Petroleum Institute, the oil and natural gas industry supports nine million U.S. jobs and makes up seven percent of the nation's gross domestic product.

If youve got a better source with differing data Im all ears.
Here in Hawaii most of the oil comes from Indonesia, on the way to West Coast refineries, but we still pay more than they do.
