(31,672 posts)where I read it, but recently I read that being a child in the USA is much more difficult than many other advanced countries. The percentage of children that live in poverty ... lack health care .... go hungry .... go to substandard schools .... drink substandard water ... risk of school shootings .... even babies, we have more infant deaths here per 1000 than most of Europe. Those are shockingly shameful statistics. And each and every one can be addressed by our government, if we ever elect lawmakers who care more about children than they do about a vindictive agenda or money.

(6,137 posts)your childhood is very much dependent on the zip code here. School gun violence is insane and just not present in any other country let alone developed nations. Healthcare quality is dependent on parents coverage. Risk of car accident is high, most other developed nations have well established public transportation that both rich and poor utilize daily and with kids. Income inequality is extreme and more similar to thid world countries. We are a country of brighest and dimmest people in the world. With the way things are going I bet Canada will eventually come out as a winner in every category. What do they think Canada is a socialist country?
