The challenge from the rally Saturday was to get people to register, and to encourage them to vote. I've had several opportunities since then, and people are either receptive or just being polite - either way, it's encouraging. I'm not pushing an agenda, just gently asking them. (Most, if not all, are people I envision would vote Democrat.)
It hit me today that when I reach out to people, I could give them custom business cards, using front and back, to communicate a compelling message, registration info, and key voting dates.
These are specific to Georgia - the two things I'm looking for are suggestions on improving them, and if anyone else wants to use these to make business cards, please feel free (the Lady Liberty photo is mine). If you're in another state, give me the your state's appropriate info and I'll create one for you if you promise to get cards and hand them out.
Here are the two designs, front and back:

(14,565 posts)Fewer words that are powerful and stand out.
Gray version is far superior so I'll focus exclusively on that:
On the first one I would get rid of everything except, "Shape Your Future" and "Vote"
"Your" is far superior to "the". People want to believe they are doing something meaningful that also benefits themselves, no matter their age.
I would probably use "Vote" at upper left in the largest type face of anything on the card. That after, all is the primary message. Then I would have Lady Liberty more toward the left center, just at the end of the word Vote. Maybe a slightly smaller version, or don't include the full base. The torch can reach almost to the top of the card
Place the "Shape Your Future" phrase fully across the card just below Lady Liberty. Then squeeze the info about flipping the card over at bottom. Again, fewer words. They'll get the idea.
"Check back of card for Georgia Voting Registration info"
That is plenty.
I'll point out I was frequently used in this role at casinos I worked for. Jack Binion in particular at the Horseshoe would have the public relations director come and talk to me in the sportsbook. She was always frustrated because I was cutting out sentences, words and entire pages. But once the plaque or press release or whatever was finally in place, she'd thank me because short and simple worked great.
Second gray card is more cluttered than I prefer but I see why you would want all that information in there. Excellent layout given so many words.

(310 posts)Thanks for all the great feedback. I'm like you, less is more.
You've given me some great ideas!

(11,175 posts)Saying "your" has the advantage of stressing that voting will affect the person being addressed. Saying "our" has the advantage of stressing that the person being addressed is part of a community.
I don't know which would get more people to vote. The latter might push the demographic a little bit to the left. (Besides, it would save one letter. Less is more.)

This is great but I would still provide the actual URL along with the QR code / barcode. Not everyone will know they can scan or have the phone to do it.

Thanks! Changed it to include the secretary of state's email address - you might have to hit refresh.
If anyone wants a version that includes their state's info, let me know.
A bunch of online business card stores have deals if you look for coupon codes - these are not all that expensive if you get 500-1000.
If you want the individual front and back jpg files, or the original photoshop file, let me know.
Thanks!

(1,936 posts)get such information out to people. With just a few people these cards could be left on or near doors and mailboxes in neighborhoods that might lean democratic. Get your steps in and help people register, win-win!
