A small victory-Crohn's is a mother fucker-insurance has now agreed I need chemo every month

instead of every 5 weeks.

Crohn's disease is a mother fucker

Basically I have a 3 week life is good span then the week before chemo/infusion really sucks and then it takes about a week after to start feeling okay so out of 5 weeks, I get 3 good weeks.

My doctor has been fighting for 2 years to put me on a 4 week plan. Insurance has said no for all that time.

UNTIL TODAY.

They approved monthly chemo at least until Dec to see if it makes a difference.

You have been there since the start of this diagnosis and uplifting me at times when I have felt the lowest.

You always have the best things to say when I need them.

Thank you so much.

Two years is a long time to wait but I’m glad you and your doctor finally met with success. Good luck with your treatment. Keep us updated. Good vibes are going your way from the badhair household.

New to posting here, been reading DU for about a year now. I was thinking about joining but didn’t know where to start until I saw your post.

I’m in a similar boat here, 10th year of battling Crohn’s, diagnosed at 15. It’s been infuriatingly persistent. I have a biologic infusion every 8 weeks, and take a new immunosuppressant twice a day, nothing else before showed meaningful results.

Insurance companies (normally) won’t allow certain treatments to be prescribed until you’ve tried and failed all the treatments on their list. I think it’s called step therapy. Sometimes I wonder if I could’ve avoided having a permanent ileostomy if they had been more aggressive in the early stages of mine. I just hope Orange Satan doesn’t put us into a recession/depression/anything worse, there’s only so much some of us can do to prepare for disasters of that scale, meds and supplies are expensive.

Anyway, don’t neglect anti-nausea meds, and keep eating, drinking, and moving around as best you can. Stay strong!

and it complicated EVERY line of attack of her cancer treatment. Horrible, horrible disease, and FAWK the insurance. Prayers, positive vibes, and love being sent your way.
