This is one of them. What I have done is to Google the name of my city and I get a grass roots site. It is difficult and takes a lot of effort since I do not have twitter or facebook so it is a chore but I personally believe it is worth it. I have found a lot of info by just googling the subject and city and I get results. Last week I did it at 5:00 PM and found that there was a protest in 1 1/2 hours about 1 mile from my home and was able to get prepared and arrive on time and was able to partake in the effort. We held lit letters on a major freeway overpass at night and the letters spelled out FAMILIES BELONG TOGETHER. If there is an Indivisible group in your area hook up with them. They are usually the main organizers. The ACLU and MoveOn.org are also good places to get info. I have done this for the past year or so.
