By Jessica Kwong On 6/26/18 at 6:55 PM
First lady Melania Trump is a con artist, a former GOP strategist and critic of President Donald Trump claimed.
Shhhhh. Dont tell anyone. Shes a con artist also. All of them are. It goes with the last name," Steve Schmidt, who worked in the George W. Bush White House and ran Senator John McCain's presidential campaign in 2008, tweeted about Melania Trump.

Schmidt, who recently quit the Republican Party over the administration's policy of separating families at the U.S.-Mexico border, was responding to Matthew Miller, an MSNBC justice and security analyst, who in his tweet, said, This entire schtick is so tiresome, referring to remarks the first lady made during a speech at the Students Against Destructive Decisions annual conference in Virginia on Sunday night.
Kindness, compassion, and positivity are very important traits in life, the first lady said. It is far easier to say nothing than it is to speak words of kindness. It is easier to judge quickly than to take time to understand.

Schmidt is not the first person to question Melania Trumps authenticity.
Vanity Fair reporter Emily Jane Fox, whose book Born Trump: Inside Americas First Family, was released earlier this month, recently responded, Yes, yes and yes, when asked on MSNBC whether the first lady and first daughter Ivanka Trumpwere "just the most stoic human beings, are they numb, are they dead inside, are they paid off."

(21,528 posts)The word around here is that she was a high end escort when Trump met her. I personally have no knowledge if it is true, just the word on the street.

(15,233 posts)Not that he objected too much considering the company he worked for did a lot of buisness with the mob. What I find funny is that eventually his employer was raided and rendered by Romney with Bane Capital. At the time my Father who hated Trump equated him with Democrats who he also hated.
I clashed constantly with my Father on politics. If he were still around I might get the last laugh,

(870 posts)The investigation of her may need to be re-open, because of the lies on her being here, she was not and is not an exceptional talent... she was just a tall thin white woman, with that "bitchy look", that models wear on their face. here we are with a habitually plagiarizing soft porn star in the white house...
.....then to wear "that jacket with a trashy writing on the back", demonstrates her low class, and no amount of over priced clothes can change whats within a person.

(14,488 posts)The big con has been on since Nixon, just within my memory. The Clintons summed it up perfectly when they said there's a "vast right-wing conspiracy".
They ALL lie and they've lied to America for so long, the truth is obscured in a media fog and in my view all Repugs are complicit.

(14,558 posts)my entire adult life, because in the early 90s I saw how twisted and sick they were. And, I have spent the last three years pulling my hair out as they have lied, distorted and bullshit every time they have opened their mouths, every stinking last one of them, and somehow this country indulges their fuck wittery EVERY GD TIME.
It has been a long, steady slide, which ramped up exponentially when the POS came down the elevator three years ago - and I told people at that time, he was no joke, that he embodied what the republican party was devolving into.
It just is so helpless, see how flat out stupid, and sick, so much of the country is to go along with it.

(14,488 posts)I remember well his spewing his vitriol across my beloved South (with our warts and all) in the late 60s and early 70s. When I go back and re-read Agnew's summary bio, it's almost as if current day Repugs copy his style of lies, deception and cronyism.
So, you're right that this is nothing new and it eats at our nation's soul. The entire Repug party would be relegated to the trash heap of history if it were not for their billionaire back room supporters and Putin would not be leading them around on a leash.
One of the best examples I can think of is that we have one single individual Australian billionaire (Murdoch) that has more political power in the USA than 99% of our citizens.
No matter how we try to rationalize it, with Republicans it always comes back to the money. They in no way recognize the term "public servant", as we remember how so many good politicians used to be (I feel most of our Democrats still are).

(14,558 posts)I remember the name for my childhood, and it mostly had negative connotations. But I really don't know a lot about him, and believe what you're saying for sure. I do remember very distinctly in kindergarten when Nixon was running for reelection, being on the school bus and it came up. My mom was a Democrat, and I might have gotten it from her, but even at that young age I knew he was a complete scumbag. And I remembered then, as I do now, being completely mystified that there were other kids my age on that bus that thought he was really great. The stupid gets a lot of people.

Wouldn't it be a huge slap in the face if he lost the '20 election ands she filed for divorce before 1/21? Because she only stays with winner....

(6,787 posts)are we continually chastised for calling her out for what she is: a former paid escort; most likely in this country because someone pulled some strings; posed semi-nude; a plagiarist; a phony baloney; a grifter before she even met a Trump - need I go on. Yet, some harp that we must show respect because she is First Lady. No, she demeans the position. I owe her no respect.
