A deal with a prosecutor would be contingent on ongoing cooperation and would only cover specific federal crimes.

A pardon from Donnie would also require cooperation, albeit if a rather different sort, but could broadly cover any and all federal crimes committed up to the date of the pardon.

However, Donnie could also offer him other inducements, from money to favors or jobs for family or, on the other hand, the sort of threats a prosecutor couldn't make....

immunity from prosecution would mean no admission of guilt. Accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt and removes your 5th amendment right
against self incrimination.

I do not, however believe that there will be any total immunity offered in this case. Mueller is well aware that this goes to extreme habitual criminality and possibly treason. No one that he indicts gets off without some jail time. Just MHO.
