I don't think this is the right approach to Susan Collins.. There are a myriad of reasons I feel this way. One reason is that I think its could be interpreted as an attack on her..
I think its the wrong way to approach the Senator....She has publicly supported Roe vs Wade!
I get all the current (hate Collins) responses I have received.. But would you rather not have any hope on this critical vote.?

(8,515 posts)Her one vote is huge.

(108 posts)There were mixed reports about her position. She even hinted that Gorsuch and Roberts would stand by precedent. She needs to be reminded and informed that the supreme court just voted against precedent last month.
The real point here is that a potus under investigation should not be allowed to pick the justice that would likely rule on his case.

(53,410 posts)Funny that. How is she supposed to know?
Shes feigning innocence and feeding us horse shit. And unfortunately many are opting for wishing on a star as a good approach to what she says.

(16,646 posts)I think she ought to pledge to resign if any of the judges she confirms ends up voting for overturning abortion rights.

(8,515 posts)She is our only hope presently to prevent it form being overturned..Why the attack.

(235 posts)Governor Paul LePage could pick her replacement.

(36,926 posts)She will loose her next election if she votes for Chump's nominee, and Roe is overturned. Maybe she knows this. Maybe not. Time will tell.

(16,646 posts)I think people might be over estimating how soon this would happen. The court could wait for the "ideal" case. Alternately, it could try to pick away at the edges with a few decision prior to the final overturning.

(15,751 posts)a reminder to Senator Collins of the ineffectiveness of a prior deal with trump, that was very ineffective.

(8,515 posts)The ACA is a done deal..for now... This is huge and its now. Would you prefer her not to vote no?
suprcali
(108 posts)No one is pushing her to vote yes. She just needs to be reminded of what happened last time she voted on something major. The promises to her were not kept. She's going to play the promise card again by saying oh look Gorsuch told me he wrote about supporting precedent. So he kind of promised he would. Then it will be her self-assurance to say yes. Or she'll feign ignorance and say well, there were no records from this nominee showing hostility towards Roe.
The actual angle to this should be that a potus under investigation should not be able to pick the justice that would rule on his case. These same Republicans would never allow it. They would be saying this over and over again in unison.

(8,515 posts)ought to emphasis how many will die and be hospitalized if she doesn't live up to her promise.

(19,956 posts)now going to vote to take away a woman's rights over her own body. Pile the pressure on her with protests etc. No point trusting her.
SharonClark
(10,014 posts)She needs to be reminded about her vote on the GOP tax bill and her conditions that were not met by mcConnell. They were supposed to stabilize the ACA exchanges. Look how that turned out. GOP are actively sabotaging it

(15,124 posts)will just SAY "I will respect established law and precedent , including Roe vs. Wade", she will vote for them, no matter how clearly they have promised to abolish it in prior opinions or writings. It's what she does.

(4,429 posts)She'll vote for Trump's nominee - she does that all the time in the lower courts. I used to have some faith in her, too. But I gave that up several years ago. It's not worth the heartache.

(82,849 posts)Senator Susan Collins of Maine will cast her vote for whatever putrid piece of jurisprudence this pusillanimous president prods down the pike. She will agonize about it before she votes, pretending that six non-existent things are real. She will oh-so-sadly say that she didn't have any choice after she votes, and she hopes things will all work out for the best, but really, it's not her fault, and please don't blame her, there were all these other Republicans voting the same way she did. If she's still feeling the heat, she'll squirt a cloud of blame for everyone else, thicker than any squid could manage.
Susan Collins, a moderate Republican in every respect except voting.
