We could let immigration officials talk with and determine eligibility for entrance into the U.S. I bet it would cost a lot less than Idiot's wall, and be much more efficient.

(7,397 posts)wanting anything like that. They want the border closed and non-Caucasian, possibly future Democratic voters deported before they can vote. This has nothing to do with national security. Which you probably know already.

(65 posts)There's a few of us in Michigan talking about it too. These immigrants are applicants, not criminals. Ellis Island is world famous for thorough and efficient processing of every arriving immigrant. Every one vetted. Borders secure.

(3,408 posts)The steamers arrived in New York harbor, stopped in Manhattan to let first and second class passengers off with no screening of any kind.
Steerage passengers were then taken to Ellis Island for health checks and to verify any sponsorship or employment.
Only the poor were vetted.
