(13,305 posts)The people demeaning and diminishing her should be ashamed. But since they are shameless they won't be.
And I mean that in the most bipartisan way possible.

(58,512 posts)And I'm baffled because she's no threat by running in Queens and the Bronx.

(13,305 posts)...maybe not outright attacks (although definitely as much so if not much more than what gets called and considered "attacks" on other Democrats). At the very least a lot on here and among the other guardians of discourse within the party diminishing her achievement and downplaying her victory and distancing that we never see when it's a centrist, moderate, or "different kind of Democrat" type.
there's some butt-hurt. I lol'd

(58,512 posts)It's a remarkable accomplishment for her and the campaign she put together. But in the grand scheme of things, ut diesn't really move the needle since she come from a deep blue district. Regardless, she has a bright future.

(13,305 posts)That are outside of the ordinary and worthing of noting in the bigger picture:
1) She unseated an incumbent who had the endorsements, backing, and money that brings along with it. Hopefully that shows all incumbents that they need to start working for these seats and not just sitting back, playing it safe and hoping that sending out a few tweets every now and again counts as engagement.
2) Blue district or not, she did so with an unabashedly and unapologetically progressive and liberal platform.
3) She will be the youngest woman elected to Congress.
4) It shows people to the left of the Democratic party establishment that they don't have to sit things out, that they don't have to be independents, that they can run within the Democratic party and win. I would think that with all the complaints on here and elsewhere about that, that people would be applauding this left and right.
And most importantly related to that last point, my issue is not with people who've remained silent and just not said anything, since as you said, other than the above it's just one seat in a blue district. What I take issue with is the number of Dems both in official positions and capacities who insist on pointing this out and distancing themselves fro her and her platform, all while they claim they want to convince liberals and progressives how....liberal and progressive they are.
As you said, she has a bright future. She is charismatic and intelligent, and she is hard working. Every single person, elected official or just party member should be applauding that and encouraging it, not falling all over themselves to point out how not important or worse yet not representative of the rest of the party she and her victory is.
She is great and they should be ashamed.

How does one leave that out?

(13,305 posts)I'm not sure she needs to say it in every single missive she sends out. Plus, I think everyone knows she's running as a Democrat. If only because of all the Democrats trying to make sure everyone knows that she doesn't represent the whole party (Heaven forbid) and that she represents only a small district in NY city.
