Trump administration rolls back Obama policy of encouraging racial diversity

Donald Trump’s limited obsessions outside of his own hair include racism and undoing all of former President Barack Obama’s achievements. So overturning Obama-era policy on affirmative action and diversity is a perfect fit for the Trump administration.

The Obama administration encouraged colleges and universities to promote diversity, including racial diversity, saying that “such steps can include taking account of the race of individual students in a narrowly tailored manner” under Supreme Court precedent. The Trump administration is shifting back to the George W. Bush-era policy of encouraging schools to be “race-neutral,” which is to say, to favor white people under the guise of neutrality.

As part of that process, the Justice Department rescinded seven policy guidances from the Education Department’s civil rights division on Tuesday. [...]

The Trump administration’s plan would scrap the existing policies and encourage schools not to consider race at all. The new policy would not have the force of law, but it amounts to the official view of the federal government. School officials who keep their admissions policies intact would do so knowing that they could face a Justice Department investigation or lawsuit, or lose federal funding from the Education Department.

Racist Attorney General Jeff Sessions is probably too excited to sit still.
