Interesting data re: so-called #WalkAway movement (Democrats abandoning the party)

Looks like more Russian bot bullshit happening on the Internet. What a shocker.

Are the #WalkAway tweets truly from Democrats who recently abandoned the party? To test this, let's compare the hashtags used in recent tweets from the #WalkAway accounts with their tweets from years past.

This chart shows the most frequently used hashtags in a random sample of 2277 #WalkAway accounts both before and after January 2018 (109K tweets from each time period were used.) Long story short, it doesn't look like these accounts were ever liberal.

My question is why doesn't twitter change their software to detect these bots and stop them? kimbutgar Jul 2018 #1

mass quantities of tweets, but do not tweet myself, so I know zip about spotting/blocking bots...but this is a fascinating study in how tweets are fashioned (“I am a lesbian Latino who voted Dem all my life, but now I am walkingaway because blah blah”)

At any rate, this particular MASSIVE MOVEMENT to “walk away” was DOA before it even had a chance to blow up the innerwebz!!:
