July 4th WH concert used to be a sea of stars; for Trump it's a drought.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/reliable-source/wp/2018/07/03/the-fourth-of-july-white-house-concert-used-to-be-a-sea-of-stars-for-trump-its-a-drought/?utm_term=.ff74fa0bcb1f&wpisrc=nl_most&wpmm=1

This year, taking the stage will be . . . two “American Idol” finalists. As in, not actual winners. Ever heard of Jax? Jonny Brenns? Not ringing a bell? You’re not alone. And there’s also country singer Sara Evans, whose last hit was back when “Lost” was still on the air (that was 2010, for the record, if you can remember that far back).
...
Of course, the addition of any performers at 1600 Penn is a step up from last year’s Independence Day event, which had no formal concert schedule. In 2017, the Trumps celebrated America’s birthday with an afternoon picnic for armed service members and their families, and White House staffers and their families later watched the fireworks display.

Just a mile and a half away from the South Lawn, a slew of celebs will be performing at PBS’s annual “A Capitol Fourth.” That event, hosted by John Stamos and airing live at the same time as the White House event, airs on PBS, will showcase the Beach Boys, Pentatonix, Jimmy Buffett and the cast of his Broadway show “Escape to Margaritaville,” Chita Rivera, Luke Combs, the Temptations and more.

I assumed "A Capitol Fourth" and the White House concert were the same thing. I saw Robert Davi on "A Capital Fourth" last year or so and I know he's a right-wing nut who likes to pretend he can sing like Sinatra.

All I ever see at these events are people lined up wearing the America flag as a shirt and all the usual hokey bullshit.

Like somebody at the WH suddenly remembered that they've got to do this July 4 event because the boss wants to look like he cares, so some gofer was given $20 and sent to the dollar store to buy $20 worth of crepe paper stuff, which they gave to the groundskeeper with instructions to put it up "wherever."

Me, the wife, and young uns, usually look forward to sharing a Bud Light and saluting the TV every year when Mr. Greenwood (who has the voice of an angel) sings America's unofficial National Anthem.

you posted lagomorph777 makes me want to do this:

Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.) told Russia’s foreign minister that while Russia and the United States were competitors, “we don’t necessarily need to be adversaries.” Later on at the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, members attending a plenary session greeted the Americans with applause.

“I’m not here today to accuse Russia of this or that or so forth,” Shelby told Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. “I’m saying that we should all strive for a better relationship.”

Strive for a better relationship???? they are making nice with an Ex-KGB'er, come to my web say the spider to the fly. Is more like it.
