(Bloomberg) -- Special Counsel Robert Mueller is tapping additional Justice Department resources for help with new legal battles as his year-old investigation of Russian interference with the 2016 election continues to expand.
As Mueller pursues his probe, hes making more use of career prosecutors from the offices of U.S. attorneys and from Justice Department headquarters, as well as FBI agents -- a sign that he may be laying the groundwork to hand off parts of his investigation eventually, several current and former U.S. officials said.
Mueller and his team of 17 federal prosecutors are coping with a higher-then-expected volume of court challenges that has added complexity in recent months, but theres no political appetite at this time to increase the size of his staff, the officials said.
According to his most recent statement of expenditures, more money is being spent on work done by permanent Department of Justice units than on Muellers own dedicated operation. The DOJ units spent $9 million from the investigations start in May 2017 through March of this year, compared with $7.7 million spent by Muellers team.

(9,670 posts)Will have spent years normalizing our relationship with Russia. They'll appear in buddy movies with the Russians. They'll be captured in thousands of photographs, arm in arm, smiling, conveying the idea that the Russians are our friends and we have nothing to worry about.
The masters of propaganda are turning treason into ex post facto "foreign policy". The Deplorables already believe this. Given time and media coverage, so will those who are not paying attention.

(6,228 posts)If we focus on voting in November, we will be able to slow down/stop the trump/repub agenda. Then russia will not be normal. Don't forget, a lot of folks are not listening to the repub propaganda now. They think the repubs are just a bunch of old white haters.
