Could I sign up for this and lead the investigation of Melania Trump, who might have worked illegally in the US? Or is Trump only investigating immigrants who look a certain way?

And in a perfect world You would be correct. This however is far from being that perfect world and this will simply serve to create yet another distraction from the multiple distractions we are served up daily.

It has become virtually impossible for an ordinary person to immigrate legally into the U.S.

We have criminalized immigration, and thus criminalized innocent people for trying to come to America for a better life.

It is an issue worth addressing.

Yes, she's a sycophant. Yes, she was side-by-side with the vulgarian in his racist Birtherism nonsense. Yes, "that is just boy talk in the locker room" was deplorable.

But there's way bigger fish to fry than the vapid First Lady.

Lady and First Family. They have no memory of their own attacks on the far more accomplished, talented, compassionate Michelle Obama and her two wonderful young daughters.

Here, however, there is a point to be made. I suspect that a large portion of the US has some ancestor, somewhere in their family tree whose immigration to the US was not totally by the rules. This point should be made - and Trump should be faced with the question of why anyone who came here and worked illegally should be barred from a path to being legal. This is the case for some who are married to Americans and have American kids.

Not to mention, it counters his call that only highly skilled, highly educated people should be allowed in. To the best of my knowledge, Melania was a first year college drop out - meaning she really has only a high school education. Is Trump saying that there were an insufficient number of beautiful American born women who could have worked as models? Not to mention, was the type of modelling she was most famous for something that his base endorses?

Me personally, I think there is a valuable point to be made that even the first lady is an illegal immigrant. It shows how impossible our system is to comply with.
