I mean, covered with lice? As in body lice? Everyone who'd come in contact with him would be likely to acquire the body lice also. More to the point, the only way he could have gotten them would have been because he'd been in contact with someone who had lice also. While not being bathed is genuinely horrible, that's not how someone gets lice.

Head lice is different from body lice, and alas is quite common although again, a person gets head lice by being in close contact with someone else who already has them. It would not be all that surprising that wherever this child was held, other kids there had head lice. Hair washing alone isn't enough to get rid of head lice, as many parents here probably know.
