The Trump base and even the GOP has a purge mentality that really goes beyond just non white and non Christian immigrants. It also is about a political purge of ANYONE NOT voting for the GOP and its agenda. If you can't deport non whites and non Christian citizens make sure they either cannot vote or are sequestered in areas where they have no political power. Gerrymandering, voter purge and voter ID is how they intend to do it by being even more aggressive with suppression. The attack on Maxine waters is just a signal that all decent will be severely punished by the base.

Trump rallies and code to his base is a war on the decency of the country itself. Look at Republicans he is attacking like the Bushes and McCain. He is telling his base to intimidate any Republican they must toe the line ore else. Period. His rallies are like the Hitler rants.

I still encounter people claiming I wasn't born here. (I was)

I have my own personal H-1B problem, where people constantly accuse me of being an H-1B. (all American born and raised)

And we continue to see the perpetual foreigner myth play out in the types of people pulled over for random checks by CBP and TSA, as well as discrimination for other parts of life.

The American experience is a little bit different for those of us whose ancestors came from non-European countries.

read last year that 45 intended to deport naturalized citizens. I checked it out again because of your post and as of this July 5th, 2018 article: "Surely the Trump Administration Will Follow All the Rules When Stripping People of Citizenship, The new denaturalization task force was last seen during the Red Scare."

Essentially, while the government has always investigated when someone comes forward with a charge against a naturalized American citizen, this is the first time since Joe McCarthy we have a dedicated task force to try to ferret people out. As Jamelle Bouie put it very neatly in Slate, this is simply the latest attempt on the part of Republicans—before and, with a turbo charge, under this president—to prevent the browning of America, or at least the American electorate.

But perhaps the most immediately pressing issue is that this administration cannot be trusted to restrict the task force's operations to investigating people who allegedly lied during the naturalization process. Trump's White House has displayed a generalized hostility to immigration best summed up in its proposal to cut legal immigration in half.

And most precisely, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has a pattern of arresting people without warrants, denying them due process, and even accusing people of having gang affiliations without evidence in order to detain them. Clearly, this is not an administration whose respect for individual rights or domestic and international law outweighs its desire to remove Certain People from the country. It would be foolish to believe that will change once they start trying to strip people of citizenship.

He probably didn't know there was such a thing as naturalization for people who aren't Trump spouses. This is being driven by someone like a Stephen Miller eager to find every possible way to punch foreigners. While I don't see this as particularly sinister in itself--someone could always have sifted records to find an improper or missing signature--in context I can't help imagining the day when this task force starts seeking out particular political opponents to deport. I'm not sure how this tool gets used to decertify natural-born citizens, but you know the way Trump thinks; he'll wish away every inconvenience, and complain until an underling finds a way to do it.
