We need a new HUAC

Come next Jan, assuming that Dems take the House; we need a new House UnAmerican Activities Committee (HUAC). There was one in the 50s that ferreted out Communists. It eventually abused its power. But that doesn't mean that we don't need a new one, with a new mission to hunt out and expose public offcials and organizations (like the NRA), that have taken Russian money and favors to undermine our elections, and those who have obstructed the Mueller investigation. I'm very serious about this. What do you think?

could be construed to have many different meanings.

Such as having the last name Clinton, or not having been born here.

Look how the last one turned out. The concept was invalid, and abuse was the order of the day. That's the nature of such committees with such names.

What is an un-American activity? The answer to that questions varies widely, depending on your political viewpoint. We have laws. We have processes. We don't drag people into Congressional committee hearings and grill them about things that aren't even illegal. That's what HUAC did.

What we need to do is shrink the 'icon' power of the federal government, they need less symbolic capital. Time for civic organizations and activists to take the lead.
