Stores should be required to display tariff surcharges

There should be a law that any cost passed on to the consumer due to tariffs must be displayed on a price tag. So if you shirt or can of soup or nails have gone up 20% there should be an original cost, tariff cost and total final cost. I fear a lot of people might not even notice subtle price changes but if they start adding it up and realizing it is costing them $50 or $100 per month, they will know to blame drumpf.

the product that gets scanned at the register. I haven't seen many products that are priced on the package recently.

Do you read your store receipts? Do you look beyond the price on shelf labels? Most people don't, so that law would have no real effect, I think.

I don't. I see the price and make a decision. For a tariff amount to be noticed, it would have to be prominent in size. I noticed that the shelf labels in the supermarket include a cost per ounce or some other measure. It's in tiny type, though, so I rarely look at it.

I know that I can tell when prices increase by any significant amount.
