TV pundits and op-ed writers need to stop using the "slippery slope" meme.
Trump has shoved America into what can only be described as a "water-slide free fall." We're hurtling downward faster and faster every day he's in office. And you can't help but wonder what happens when we hit maximum velocity. But we've got a good idea of what awaits us at the bottom.
He daily comes up with a new piece of craziness to distract us, change the subject, and saturate us with outrage. And, yes, sane people who have been paying attention just gotta' be suffering from outrage exhaustion.
Every day, most of us wonder why someone, somehow, doesn't stop him.
Well, the power to stop him lies with the Republican congress. But their (individual) fear of not getting reelected outweighs their fear of fucking up America beyond repair. ("Patriots" all.)
So all we can do is wait for the November vote, do everything possible to turn out a "Blue Wave," and hope we can slow the madman down.
I, for one, want a blue tsunami that will bury the Republican Party along with the orange menace. But I simultaneously fear that if the "Blue Wave" doesn't occur, America, and perhaps even the rest of the world's democracies, are over.
Those countries that are democratically ruled on this planet, understand what's at stake in America this November. I hope there are enough American Democratic voters, in enough states, who "get it."
Meanwhile, keep in mind that that "slippery slope" is now accelerating us all into a drowning pool.

Sigh.
