A New Religion

It is hate and exclusion wrapped in the American flag.

.45 is its's Pope.

It splits and derides.

It is jingoistic to the brink of nausea.

It is full of fear and bluster.

It's opposite day. The upside-down. Black is white.

With apologies to Duran Duran.

It's a New Religion.

This is the very same Evangelical Christianity that's been around for ages. Let's see:

Hate and exclusion wrapped in the American Flag - check.
Splits and derides - check.
Jingoistic to the point of nausea - check.
Full of fear and bluster - check.

They hated Obama with the same level of fervor with which they adore Trump. Their unbelievable hypocrisy has become more obvious with their overwhelming support of Trump, but there isn't anything new about it.

...and that's its utter and total subservience to power, and its utter and total surrender to evil. It is now the anti-Christianity, which means that it's no surprise that it's thrown itself at the feet of the Golden Calf... Robert A Heinlein predicted all this way back in 1940, in his novel *If This Goes On--*, collected in his book *Revolt in 2100*. It predicted the election of a Fundamentalist dictator as President of the US--in 2016!--and the theocratic regime he set up...very much worth reading, and uncannily prophetic...

that the US has been one of the few countries to maintain a secular government for as long as a couple of hundred years. However, it is also true there have always been Christians trying to seize enough influence over our government to promote and/or enforce their particular religious preferences.

Christianity in general has a very long history of lusting after worldly power, and of committing every evil imaginable in order to get it and keep it. I still think, in the grand scheme of things, this really isn't anything new.
