Russian broadcasters mocked the Republican lawmakers who visited Moscow over the Fourth of July holiday and gloated about the Kremlins role in electing President Donald Trump.
Seven U.S. senators and one congresswoman Sens. Steve Daines (R-MT), John Hoeven (R-ND), Ron Johnson (R-WI), John Kennedy (R-LA), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Richard Shelby (R-AL), John Thune (R-SD) and Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX) traveled to Russia for closed-door meetings with high-ranking Kremlin officials.

The Alabama Republican dismissed the widespread agreement among U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies that the Kremlin interfered in the 2016 election, but Russian TV hosts disagreed.
What trouble did we cause? one Russian TV analyst said last week, before the senators arrived. We just elected Trump, thats all.

JULY THIRD 2018, MOTHERFUCKER:
The Senate Intelligence Committee strongly backed the finding by U.S. intelligence agencies that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a campaign to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, ultimately intending to help Donald Trump win.
The committee concurs with intelligence and open-source assessments that this influence campaign was approved by President Putin, the panel said Tuesday in a report that endorsed as sound the intelligence findings issued in January 2017. The committee said there was a body of intelligence to support the assessment that Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for Trump.

(4,642 posts)and the ensuing collapse of their economy. Russia went through a few decades of economic hell with little help from the west. Like 1920's, 30's Germany, that gave birth to nationalism and their fascist dictator, putin. Now we are dealing with our own fascist state and the merging of both.

But this reads like whataboutism, which is a Russian (and now Republican) talking point/smear.
America has a better society than Russia. Russias government is a kleptocratic oligarchy, where the rich steal money and the rest of the nation is poor. The putin regime oppresses its people. Our actions are NOT!! equal.
I will defend Americas right to seek free people and fairness everywhere. We should consider Putins attack on us to be an attack on freedom loving people everywhere.

The worst thing you can do to one of these MAGAt Republicans is to tag them as being weak or unmanly.

(51,430 posts)I want this used in Dems campaign ads. I donated money to the DNC, I should have a say about how it is spent. I want it used to re-run this during the midterms. Whenever I donate to Freedom From Religion they ask how I want my donation spent and I always say on advertising on TV. I want the same for my Dem donations too.

(51 posts)The right has never forgiven Jane Fondas trip to Hanoi during the Vietnam War. Russia is an enemy of the United States who clearly meddled with and influenced the 2016 Presidential campaign in a cyber attack. Yet here are GOP senators in Russia on the 4th of July...I think this is their Hanoi Jane moment and we need to show our country how they give aid and comfort to our enemies!

Must be prep'ing for interference in the 2018 midterms coming up, I can't think of anything else going on that they need to be involved w/, or they are prep'ing for rump's upcoming meet and greet w/ Putin...
