A friend of mine sent me a link from a DC parents' website. Site is apparently used by some congressional staffers and other conservatives who get parachuted into DC to work here out of their conservative upbringings.
In an argument about the courts and unqualified conservatives, and around the discussion of civility, this was posted:
Blah blah blah. We are winning and you are losing. Were putting enough conservative judges on the bench to firm up our control of the courts for a generation. Its morning in America, my friend.
THIS is the whole point of the Civility Police. The Republicans don't want outrage. They want SILENCE. They want us all to pretend everything is totally normal. So they can pack the courts with unqualified conservative judges.
-------------
What is the answer to Republican requests for silence, normalcy and civility?
OUTRAGE. Be outraged. If you see a Republican politician, let them know you are unhappy. Tape the interaction. Send it to CNN and get on the air.
We need to signal that this is an abnormal political moment.
If we remain "civil", we will lose the courts for -- as the conservative said above, "a generation". It may already be far gone, but we can raise our voices and stop it now. The Senate is ramming through another unqualified conservative today.

Be OUTRAGED!

I'll become civil when THEY become civil. Not one moment sooner.

(613 posts)I don't totally disagree that Schumer and Pelosi need to be stronger - they were raised in 80s and 90s politics before Newt and the radicalization of the Republican party.
But be careful - the right is running a disinformation campaign RIGHT NOW to divide Democrats and tell them to dislike Schumer and Pelosi.
Schumer is our ally and working within the party is the best way forward. But we should still push him.
I'm on Schumer's team.

This young woman is on fire and intelligent, and she was rational and civil to Pruitt. Would like to see her in public service someday.
If a Repug wants to talk about civility, just ask them how civil it is to take basic healthcare from millions, to take children from their parents as they cross our border, or to give corporations free-rein to foul our air and water (list could go on forever).
