the way out is around 3 miles, some of it very narrow and twisty.

meaning also the diving skills to get out of there, are highly technical. As in, it's not just a simple lark of a dive. It's complicated and difficult, and will not be at all solved by some sort of simple system like this.

Nope. They're going to have to teach them to cave dive, which is orders of magnitude harder and more dangerous.
