2. It was McCarthy, not Ryan, that said this.

I have certainly seen this information multiple times. Why doesn't it resonate more with voters? Not sure we can blame the media.

It was a statement made by McCarthy that got a response from Ryan. Ryan denied it ever happen until a recording of the incident appeared. It was then that Ryan claimed it was just a joke. It is the republican way. When there is audio or video evidence of Republicans doing something illegal or immoral and there is no denying it happened they fall back on the "just joking" claim.

12. As I recall, Ryan initially categorically denied the conversation ever happened.

Until he was confronted with the tape - then it was “ a joke”. Of course McCarthy was the genius who, when attacked by Hannity for fecklessness, defensively bragged about using the Benghazi committee to bring Clinton’s numbers down.

Then they played him the tape. Then he backtracked, admitting it happened, but that it was a joke.

McCarthy actually said he thought Rohrabacher and Trump were being paid by Putin. I think he's right on both counts. Dana Rohrabacher is my Congressman. I have been canvassing for his Democratic challenger, Harley Rouda. Harley has been hitting Dana for his Putin ties and votes against his constituents' interests.

So that removes Fox, Limbaugh, CNN, TV news, and half of MSNBC from covering it.

Leaving the NYT and WaPo and a few other mainstream publications. Which try to cover it, but get swamped and redirected by Steve Bannon and other rightwing propagandists “throwing poop in the air”.

So that’s why the media doesn’t cover stories like this. Even though there are many great and ethical journalists out there.

The tweet clearly states, House majority leader told colleagues last year "I think Putin pays" Trump.
That's Kevin McCarthy, not Ryan. Paul Ryan told them not to leak remarks.
