I just have never seen the low pressure and lack of ice etc that far north.

Down south it would be called a tropical depression. But there was talk years ago that the poles night start having hurricane like occurrences in the future.

So that's the new normal. I can't make any kind of intelligent comment on the low pressure, since I simply don't know enough. But again, the wind speeds are unremarkable.
